Cerritos Library is a popular learning destination for the entire community. To best serve patrons’ needs, advance registration is required for some Cerritos Library programs. Please see the information below to learn how and when to register for the programs which require registration. For more information, please call Cerritos Library at (562) 916-1388.

How to Register
In order to register, patrons must be in the City’s class registration database and have obtained a family account access PIN number and individual family member personal numbers.

On-line registration
To check the availability of classes or to register for classes, please visit the Cerritos home page at www.cerritos.us and look for the on-line registration link. The program, eConnect, is best viewed with Internet Explorer. Before registering for classes on-line, print the eConnect User’s Guide for step-by-step instructions.

Only Visa and MasterCard will be accepted as payment. For additional information and/or to obtain the PIN numbers, please call the Library Reservation Desk at (562) 916-1388. Computers at the Cerritos Library may be used to access eConnect.

MS POWERPOINT 2007 TIPS & TRICKS
Go beyond the basic capabilities of PowerPoint in this three-hour, hands-on workshop. Instructor Jason Galeener will provide tips and tricks on how to create more interesting and effective presentations using PowerPoint 2007. NATIVE AMERICAN PICTOGRAPH ART
As part of the Library’s Cultural Art Workshop series, children are invited to a Native American pictograph art workshop. Native Americans used drawings of animals, plants, stars and people to tell stories and record their history. In this workshop, children will learn about this traditional Native American art form and create their own simple designs to tell a story. This workshop is limited to 20 participants. BEGINNING ORIGAMI FOR KIDS

CHINESE VEGETARIAN COOKING WORKSHOP
Chef Jilly Du of Trinity Healthy Vegetarian will present a Chinese vegetarian cooking workshop on Tuesday, January 17. PUPPET WORKSHOP FOR KIDS

CERAMIC PAINTING WORKSHOP FOR KIDS
This workshop presented by Color Me Mine offers a wonderful opportunity for children to learn ceramic painting. YOUNG REMBRANDTS

BLOOD DRIVE
Due to a critically low local blood supply and severe shortages of blood collections across the nation, the City of Cerritos and The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive on Tuesday, January 10 in the parking lot of the Cerritos Library. Any healthy person age 17 or older and weighing at least 110 pounds may be eligible to donate blood. All blood drive participants will receive a Battle of the Badges t-shirt, a coupon for a free appetizer from Mimi’s Cafe, and a voucher for two tickets to a Los Angeles Clippers game (recipients must pay a $5 processing fee per ticket). MYSTERY ON THE MENU
The Friends of the Cerritos Library will host the seventh annual Mystery on the Menu luncheon with 15 award-winning authors on Saturday, January 28. The authors participating in panel discussions and book signing are Avery Aames, Cara Black, Kate Carlisle, Carol Costa, Denise Hamilton, Betty Hechtman, Naomi Hirahara, Linda O. Johnston, Jenn McKinlay, Matt Richtel, Pamela Samuels-Young, Steve Scarborough, Sheldon Siegel, Kelli Stanley and Simon Wood. Copies of books by these authors will be available for purchase at the event. Admission is $40 per person. Register early, as seating is limited. Library Displays

ART OF THE BOOK: ASIAN INFLUENCES
A selection of artists’ books with Asian influences will be on display throughout the Library until the end of March. Portfolio, pop-up, scroll and tunnel books will also be on display. This display is one of the ongoing exhibits showcasing the unique pieces from the Library’s special collection of artists’ books.

BARBIE DOLLS
A wide selection of special edition Barbie dolls will be on display in the Library’s lobby until the end of February. These beautiful dolls are from the collection of Mary Ann Camacho.

TOYS BY DESIGN
Since their inception, toys have evolved into various forms and are collected by young and old alike. Designer toys combine traditional figurines with elements of pop art and design. Designer toys made by Kidrobot and Qee will be on display in the Young Adult area until the end of February. The toys are from the collection of Melbourne Delaney, and feature the cutting edge work of Huck Gee, Frank Kozik, Tara McPherson, and other artists from around the world.
