XyloPlan's Fire Pathway Analysis helps predict wildfire routes, aiding Alameda County in mitigation efforts, grant applications, and fire safety planning.

On February 10, 2025, XyloPlan, a company that models wildfire risk, presented their Fire Pathway Analysis for Alameda County. XyloPlan's unique wildfire risk approach focuses on predicting how wind-driven fires will reach a community, rather than just measuring fire intensity. The Analysis will help our county understand the pathways fire may take and is a crucial part of effectively fighting fires and fire safety measures.
At the meeting, Chief Dave Winnacker discussed the likely routes that a fire would take if it were to burn through communities in Alameda County. This analysis was paid for by the Alameda County Coordinator grant and supports stakeholders, like you, across the county in helping identify high-priority areas that need wildfire mitigation. This analysis can be used to craft successful grant applications for your organizations, as well.
The City of Berkeley has already presented this analysis in PDF form to the Berkeley City Council and used it in several grant applications. We look forward to finding more ways to enhance Alameda County's mitigation efforts through our collaborative efforts.
