Happy February, Berkeley Ready community! Since the start of the new year, we’ve been offering lots of Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) classes. Our classes have been full and the waitlists have been long – we’re thrilled to see so much interest. But we’re also sad for the loss and devastation in the Los Angeles area, which has no doubt motivated many of us to revisit and or rethink our approach to wildfires and other disasters.
Given all of this, we make sure folks aren’t just sitting on the waitlist, hoping to get crucial disaster preparedness information. In February, March, and April, we will be offering in-person and virtual classes focused on Household Fire Weather Planning and Six Critical Steps to Disaster Preparedness. These are one-hour long classes, designed to get you the information that you need to take low-cost, moderate-effort, high reward actions.
We will also continue to offer our CERT classes and add new dates, so stay tuned on Eventbrite.

Wildfires are now more frequent, destructive, and fast-moving than ever. A Household Fire Weather Plan will help you make important decisions before fire weather starts, including: deciding to leave your home, choosing where you will go, planning multiple evacuation routes, and identifying who you can ask for help.
This interactive class, led by the City of Berkeley's Office of Emergency Services, lets you share experiences with fellow community members, helps you answer key preparedness questions, and guides you in creating a plan to keep your family safe during fire season.
You can sign up for the class online or in person:
