If your neighborhood doesn’t have its own gathering or you want to join something bigger, come to our block party for activities, games, and food. It’s free to all.
As neighbors around Berkeley come together on National Night Out, you have the option to come to a City-run block party complete with activities for kids and food for all.
While we can’t top the importance of connecting with neighbors at events near you, our citywide event in central Berkeley offers a chance to meet Berkeleyans from around the city as well as staff from a range of departments.
Our city co-sponsored block party will have giant inflatables, carnival games, and more. In doing so, we hope to bring neighbors together, strengthen relationships, and build safer and healthier communities.

If you are pregnant or the parent of an infant, toddler, or child under five, come out to a free picnic to learn more about chest- or breastfeeding and get free tools and personal consultation to help you do so.
Open to all families, this picnic will provide nutrition resources, including a cooking demonstration, healthy picnic food items to nosh on, and fresh produce to take home.
This picnic and resource fair highlights the core work of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, through which the City coordinates nutrition and health services to low-income individuals who are or were recently pregnant, and children under five.
Fun activities for the whole family to enjoy—including a children’s activity station, line dancing, raffles, and photobooth—will all be part of the event.
You can also sign up for free nutrition services through the WIC program and get other resources to support your family’s health, from immunizations to glucose and blood pressure checks, to free COVID tests to take home.

Make a difference working with the City of Berkeley. As an Environmental Health Supervisor, for example, you could lead and manage environmental health programs.
As a Firefighter, you’d help prevent and suppress fires across the city, from the hills to dense urban areas and out to the waterfront.
Or support a healthier Berkeley as an Assistant Aquatics Coordinator. You’d plan and lead programs like swim lessons, team aquatics, and classes for all ages and experience levels.
In one of these or other open positions, you’d have the opportunity to grow your career and make a positive impact on the community.

Make sure each member of your household signs up for their own AC Alert account to receive alerts during an emergency.
Include phone numbers, email addresses, and locations of interest, like your home, work, and children’s school addresses, to get critical emergency information.
By signing up for AC Alert, which is used across Alameda County, you will receive important information about protective actions to take during emergencies, including extreme fire weather, evacuations, or orders to shelter-in-place.
AC Alert will also be used in Berkeley to guide people on how to use our evacuation map and provide details when the city’s Outdoor Warning System is in effect.
