Funding for improvements to
City infrastructure and facilities.

We are using funding from T1 bonds to improve sidewalks, storm drains, streets, parks, community centers, and other key infrastructure and facilities.
Measure T1 provides $100 million of funding from bond revenue to pay for improvements to City infrastructure and facilities. Phase 1 projects are complete. This is an update on Phase 2 projects.

 Grove Park Playstructure Ages 5-12
Please join us for a Ribbon Cutting to celebrate the newly renovated Grove Park Playground for ages 2-5 and 5-12 and picnic area on March 6th at 3:00 pm. Light refreshments will be provided.

 Willard Park Clubhouse and Restroom Replacement rendering
Construction is set to begin in mid-March and completed before the summer of 2025.

 Ohlone Park Mural Garden
Several months ago, Ohlone Park (above North Berkeley Senior Center) 2-5 and 5-12 play structures opened. The Mural Garden and turf area will be open to the public as of March 6, 2024. When the artwork associated with the mural is finished and installed, there will be a community celebration.

Sidewalk Repair Project is underway and is scheduled for completion in the Spring of 2024. This project includes about 575 locations.

 This Portland Loo style restroom will be located at Channing and Telegraph, expected completion in June 2025. This is one of 3 ROW Restrooms. The other two will be located at University/San Pablo and Alcatraz/Adeline.

Facilities/Buildings

African American Holistic Resource Center: Planning and programming phase almost complete, scheduled to open July 2026.

MLK Jr. Youth Service Center Renovation: Planning phase complete. Design Documentation phase has begun, scheduled to open May 2025.

City Building at 1947 Center St – In planning phase. Windows and HVAC improvements design anticipated to be complete in February 2025.

South Berkeley Senior Center – In design phase for structural strengthening and other improvements. Waiting on result of recently submitted CRC grant.

Fire Station 2 – Completing design documents. Submittal of permit approval in October 2024.

Fire Station 6 – (Planning project only) In schematic design phase.

Corporation Yard Improvements:
- Wash Station – Design phase at 70%.
- H-Roof Repair – Design and permitting complete.
- Green Room, Lockers, Bathroom, Training Room – Design and permitting complete.
Restrooms

ROW Restrooms at University/San Pablo; Alcatraz/Adeline – Bidding, Completion June 2025.

ROW Restrooms at Channing/Telegraph- Bidding complete. Construction will begin after PG&E work. Estimate construction completion in June of 2025.

Telegraph/Channing Garage Restroom Improvements – Restroom project has been combined with elevator replacement project and is currently in permitting phase.

Harrison Park Restroom: Conceptual design phase almost complete.

Cesar Chavez Restroom on Spinnaker: In design.

Ohlone Park Restroom: currently working towards 100% Construction Documents; plans to submit for permitting this Spring; construction anticipated to begin in FY25.

K-Dock Restroom: Project is at 30% Design.

D & E Dock Replacement: Currently advertised for bids (Bid Opening on March 15, 2024); anticipated construction to begin August 2024.

Bollard conversion to landscaping: Design in process, expected completion of design in August 2024.

Sidewalks: 60% of 550 construction locations are complete.
