Cyclotron Road is a division of the Berkeley Lab. This program is a two-year fellowship in partnership with the non-profit Activate for science innovators looking to advance hard technologies that have the potential for broad societal impact from concept to viable first product.

For anyone with a technology-based startup idea that originated at a university or academic lab, Bay Area NSF Innovation Corps (I-Corps) offers a one-week course based on Steve Blank's Lean LaunchPad. Three evening sessions will teach you to identify and refine your value propositions and customer segments, essential to de-risking your idea and achieving product-market fit. Teams that complete the national program have a much higher funding rate and might qualify for the National NSF I-Corps program which includes a $50,000 customer discovery grant.

BERKELEY INNOVATORS MAKING NEWS
Berkeley-based pet food company, Wild Earth has completed a new funding round of more than $23 million from an investor line-up headlined by Mark Cuban. Cuban first invested in Wild Earth in 2019 after CEO Ryan Bethencourt appeared on the television series “Shark Tank”. The new funding will help finance the company’s next initiative in creating cell-based meat pet food.

Berkeley-based startup Perfect Day’s products, featured in many leading ice cream brands, has been assessed by consultancy WSP USA in their life cycle assessment (LCA) as more sustainable than those made by conventional production methods. Their animal-free whey was shown as generating significantly less greenhouse gas emissions than whey from cows.

Fox has made an investment in Berkeley-based Eluvio, valuing the company at $100M. This investment will be used to accelerate the adoption of Eluvio’s blockchain/NFT platform.

The Berkeley Lab quantum testbed is aiming to accelerate the work of physicists and researchers by building a distributed quantum network with its five-year, $12.5M award from the US Department of Energy. This testbed will connect quantum computers between Berkeley Lab and the University of California - Berkeley with the help of the California Institute of Technology.
