New Wayfinding Signs Are Coming to Belmont
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Oct. 8, 2026
You may start noticing something new along Belmont’s streets over the next few weeks. The City is preparing to install the first phase of the new signs developed through our Signage & Wayfinding Program, adopted by the City Council in December 2024.
Over the next three weeks, new wayfinding signs will begin appearing along key corridors and at important destinations around town. The signs will help direct people to places such as the Twin Pines Civic Center, parks, the library, the community center, and other community destinations.
But this project is about more than simply telling you where to turn. While our phones can get us from Point A to Point B, good wayfinding helps us understand where we are. The new signs are designed to create a consistent look throughout Belmont, make it easier to navigate whether you're driving, walking, biking, or taking transit, and add elements that reflect Belmont's character and sense of place.
The installation is the next step in a multi-year effort that included community workshops, surveys, commission discussions, and collaboration with the City Council Placemaking Subcommittee and Hunt Design. It also builds on the City's Public Art Master Plan and the Belmont Village Specific Plan streetscape guidelines.
So, if you see a new sign going up, take a second look. It's a small addition to the streetscape, but collectively these signs will help make Belmont easier to navigate, more welcoming, and a little more distinctly Belmont.
