Storm Season Ahead: Prepare Now for El Niño
The National Weather Service reports a 90% chance of a very strong El Niño event this fall and winter, with the potential for heavier rainfall, flooding, and coastal impacts. Local effects vary, and forecasts for individual storms become clearer closer to the event.
As we head into fall, take time to clear gutters and drainage areas, review your flood risk, and know where sandbags and other storm resources are available in your city. Review local emergency resources and track the latest weather forecasts.

Belmont Community Preschool Open House

Belmont Waterdog Run
For the past six years, hundreds of local participants have run, walked, cheered, and had fun at the annual Belmont Water Dog Run all while helping to raise money. This year's run will be held Saturday, September 26 and includes a 5K, 10K, 1 mile, and fido run. Volunteer opportunities are also available.

Belmont Centennial Fest
Belmont turns 100 this year, and we're celebrating on Saturday, October 24. We'll kick things off with a car parade at 1:30 p.m. (Chula Vista Dr & Alameda de las Pulgas), rolling into a car show at Sixth Ave & Ralston, then a time capsule ceremony at 3:30 p.m. in front of Twin Pines Senior & Community Center. From there, hang around Twin Pines Park for the festival, complete with live music, food trucks, Alpha Acid, games, and more, capped off with a drone show at 7:30 p.m. Want a booth or table, or have a vintage car for the parade? Fair Housing Webinars for Landlords
Project Sentinel is hosting two webinars for property owners on federal Fair Housing protections and resources available to landlords. Both sessions take place via Zoom at 1:30 PM, on September 15 and September 30, and will cover legal requirements, best practices, and reasonable accommodations. The Housing Authority will also present at the September 30 session.
