Centennial Celebrations
Belmont’s Centennial Celebrations are in full swing, with exciting ways for the community to get involved all year. From our 100 Celebrations initiative, which encourages neighbors, friends, and families to host their own gatherings, to applying for a community-led event, such as a tour, block party, or history project, there are countless opportunities to connect and celebrate together. We also offer exclusive merch, our Centennial Stories Podcast, and sponsorship opportunities. While we will continue accepting donations throughout the year, sponsorship opportunities that include brand recognition will only be available through July 15 to allow time for event and staff planning.
However you choose to participate, there’s a place for everyone in honoring Belmont’s first 100 years. We extend our gratitude to all our sponsors, including Davey Tree Solutions and Culligan Management Company, who are helping us bring these offerings to life!
Summer Aquatics
Our Summer Aquatics program begins next week, and we still have spots available for Session 1 (June 22 - July 2)! Whether your child is just learning to swim or wants to take their skills to the next level, there is a class that will fit their needs.

Draft Safety Element to be Considered for Adoption
After a three-year, multijurisdictional process, the City will consider adopting the updated Safety Element of the General Plan on June 23, 2026. Adoption of the new Safety Element represents a milestone in planning for potential risks from natural and human-caused hazards, as well as strategies to avoid or minimize harm to the community. The Safety Element also analyzes and identifies the City's vulnerability to climate change and climate-related hazards and includes goals, policies, and actions to reduce these vulnerabilities. The Conservation Element has also been updated to be consistent with the Safety Element. Both drafts are available at: www.belmont.gov/safetyelement.
The Planning Commission previously provided feedback at its April 21, 2026 meeting. View the meeting materials and recording here.
The City Council provided feedback at a meeting on Tuesday, April 28. 2026. View the meeting materials and recording here.
On June 2, 2026, the Planning Commission adopted a resolution recommending City Council adoption of the amended Safety Element and amended Conservation Element. View the meeting materials and recording here.
The City Council will consider the Planning Commission's recommendation for adoption at its June 23, 2026 meeting. The agenda will be posted here.
Members of the public are welcome to email advanceplanning@belmont.gov with questions or feedback.
