Belmont Approves Community-Focused Budget
The Belmont City Council adopted the FY 2026-27 budget at its June 9 meeting, approving a balanced plan focused on maintaining essential services, investing in infrastructure, and addressing long-term financial challenges. The total citywide operating budget includes $82.9 million in citywide operating expenses to support day-to-day services, $12 million in capital improvement projects, and a balanced general fund budget with a modest $500,000 draw from reserves.
The biggest fiscal risk remains the State's continued withholding of Vehicle License Fee revenues ($2.4M owed; $30M+ at risk over 10 years). The full budget document is available at www.belmont.gov/budget, and the budget presentation and City Council discussion are available at www.belmont.gov/agendas.

Public Comment Period Open for Local Hazard Mitigation Plan
The San Mateo County's draft Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) is open for public comment until June 15, which includes the City of Belmont Annex draft. The City of Belmont is seeking community input to help inform our annex draft. Tell us where the plan is strong, what it misses, and what you would add by taking this survey.
The LHMP identifies our risks from wildfires, flooding, earthquakes, severe weather, other natural hazards, and outlines actions to reduce damage before disasters happen. It also keeps San Mateo County’s 20 cities, unincorporated communities, and special districts eligible for federal hazard mitigation funding. The Belmont Public Library can assist in accessing the material upon request, or you can find more information on the San Mateo County website. Thank you for sharing your feedback to help shape emergency preparedness in Belmont!

2 Davis Drive Update
The City completed its first review of the planning application for the 2 Davis Drive site, located at the corner of Davis Drive and Ralston Avenue. The developer is proposing to demolish the existing office building and construct 45 townhomes across seven buildings, with each building containing between four and seven units. The project includes 96 dedicated parking spaces (two per unit) and six guest parking spaces. The project also includes the dedication of approximately 0.37 acres to the City for the future development of a public safety building, which would replace Fire Station 15.
