Belmont Centennial Time Capsule
Belmont, we’re building a time capsule for the future, and we need your help deciding what goes inside. We have already agreed on one thing, a penny is making the cut. After all, what is a time capsule in 2026 without one? Now it’s your turn! What physical object best represents our community today? What trends, songs, or moments define this era in Belmont? What would you want someone to discover 100 years from now? Take our survey to cast your vote by April 15 and help be part of Belmont history.
Cub Scouts Tour City Hall
Last week, fourth-grade Cub Scouts Pack 153 visited City Hall as part of their Community Pillar work, getting a firsthand look at how local government operates. The Scouts participated in a Q&A with the Mayor, learned about the roles of key departments, such as Public Works and Police, and heard from our City Attorney. The visit also included a brief tour of City departments, giving them a well-rounded introduction to the people and services that help keep Belmont running.

Save Money with the New EASE Home Program
San Mateo County is spreading the word about a new home upgrade program that could save you serious money! It's called EASE Home, run by BayREN, and it covers 80% of your home improvement costs. Most individuals end up paying less than $1,000 out of pocket. Eligible upgrades include insulation, duct sealing, and air sealing, the kind of improvements that keep your home comfortable year-round and lower your utility bills.
You may qualify if you are a PG&E customer in the Bay Area, live in a single-family home built before 2010, or are in a moderate-income household (income limits go up to $162,450 for a single person, $232,050 for a family of 4). Renters can apply as well, with their landlord's support!
If you qualify, a free Energy Advisor visits your home, builds a custom plan, and handles everything from permits to contractor scheduling. Check eligibility at www.BayREN.org, email EASEHome@BayREN.org, or call (866) 998-8655 to inquire.

Under State law, the City is required to accommodate 1,785 new housing units between 2023 and 2031. To date, the City has issued building permits for 268 units (15% of the target amount) and has approved an additional 387 units, bringing the total number of pipeline units to 36% of the State target goal. In addition, the City has made progress implementing several programs to reduce barriers to housing construction, encourage new Accessory Dwelling Units, and provide financial support to affordable housing developments that are underway.

The City of Belmont is participating in a multi-city initiative to explore updates to and/or enact new affordable housing policies for new development projects. These policy studies include some combination of residential affordable housing impact fees, inclusionary requirements and in-lieu fees, and commercial linkage fees.
