Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Poetry & Essay Contest
Today is the final day to submit a piece of original work for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Poetry and Essay Contest. All Belmont students grade 3 - 12 are encouraged to participate and submit either a poem or essay reflecting on this year's quote: "Even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream." Celebrate the legacy of Dr. King by inspiring hope, change, and a brighter tomorrow for all.
Finalists will be invited to recite their poem or essay at the awards ceremony on Thursday, February 26th at the Twin Pines Lodge from 6:00 - 7:30pm. All finalists and winners will receive monetary prizes! We're excited to support Belmont's talented youth and their inspiring words, bravery, and passion.

Did you know that Belmont played a significant role in shaping music history dating back to the 1960s? Join Belmont Community Foundation on Thursday, February 5th at 6:30pm at Barrett for a fun and informative music presentation exploring Belmont’s hidden influence on music in the 60’s with Belmont resident Eric Dentler. Obscure Movie Club
If you enjoy watching and discussing films, our new monthly movie club is for you! The next showing will be ‘Nine Days’ on Saturday, February 7th at 5pm in the Twin Pines Manor. Learn to Use Your iPhone
Join the Belmont Youth Advisory Committee at the Twin Pines Senior and Community Center on Tuesday, February 17th at 10:30am for a digital literacy workshop to help seniors get the most out of their iPhones. Memory Cafe
This Memory Cafe is intended for those with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s, Dementia, or other memory loss, along with their care companion and is a welcoming, stigma-free space where caregivers and their loved ones can socialize, listen to music, play games, and enjoy other appropriate activities. Painting Class
Join us for a free and fun painting class on Saturday, February 28th from 6 - 8pm. Taught by our Community Arts Curator Heather Birnbaum Harris and local artist Dorothea McCowan, this beginners' class will consist of creating greeting cards using gouache paint. Teen Wellness Retreat
We’re excited to co-host the third annual Teen Wellness Retreat with the City of San Carlos on Saturday, March 28th from 9am - 2pm at San Carlos Adult Community Center. This free, one-day retreat invites teens grades 6 - 12 to destress and refresh their mental health. The day includes breakfast and lunch, boba, workshops, a resource fair, giveaways, and more. ALS Network Donation Drive
The City of Belmont VOICES team and Carlmont High School ALS Club are teaming up with the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Network to host a donation drive for care packages supporting caregivers of ALS patients. The drive runs from February 3rd – March 3rd and donations will be accepted at the Belmont Parks and Recreation Office and Belmont Library. We’re collecting unused items that bring rest, comfort, and wellness, including fuzzy socks, warm compresses, coloring books, and more. Find the full list of eligible items here.
Climate Action & Adaptation Plan Workshop - Register Now
The City of Belmont invites you to attend the second community workshop for the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan update. This workshop will invite feedback on the Plan's draft measures and actions--specific strategies the City may consider to help reduce local greenhouse gas emissions and increase resiliency to climate change. Help us celebrate Belmont’s Centennial by showing your artistic talent with a nod to Belmont’s history! Our second round Happy Hydrant applications are now live. We’re also looking for an artist to paint our utility box at the corner of Ralston and Sixth Avenue.
