Minimum Wage Increase Reminder
Effective Jan. 1, 2026, Belmont's minimum wage increased to $18.95 per hour. Notices have been emailed to all registered businesses and mailed to Belmont-based brick-and-mortar businesses. Additional information is available at www.belmont.gov/minwage.

Climate Action & Adaptation Plan Workshop
Help shape Belmont’s Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, which will establish key strategies for increasing resilience to climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions to align with State targets. Martin Luther King Jr. Poetry & Essay Contest
The 2026 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Poetry & Essay Contest is open for submissions until Feb. 2! This contest is open to all Belmont students in grades 3 -12. Students are invited to submit original writing inspired by the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year's quote is "Even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream." Finalists will be invited to recite their pieces at the awards ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Twin Pines Lodge from 6-8:30 p.m. Finalists and winners will receive monetary prizes! Let your voice be heard, and your words inspire.

Winter & Spring Recreation Scholarships
Our Winter and Spring youth and teen scholarships are officially live! Belmont residents are invited to apply for financial assistance for eligible youth and teen activities taking place from January through May. Approved applicants may receive up to 50% off registration fees, with a maximum award of $400 per individual per calendar year.

Music & Open Mic Night
Join us for a free night of live music, creativity, and community at our second Music & Open Mic Night, Saturday, Jan. 24, at Twin Pines Manor. Whether you're a seasoned performer or stepping on stage for the first time, all are welcome. Public Works Highlights
Public Works Operations staff have been actively responding to recent storm events by cleaning hotspots and storm drain inlets and completing various repairs, including the Lake Road Trail repair, and replacing signs damaged by the storms. Crews have also been filling potholes throughout the city and working to resolve multiple malfunctions at sewer pump stations. In addition, staff installed the new Belmont Centennial streetlight banners along Ralston Avenue, Masonic Way, and Old County Road.

Commercial Electric Lawn & Garden Equipment Exchange Pilot Program Webinar
Join the Air District for a public webinar on Jan. 13 at 10 a.m. to learn more about the Air District’s Commercial Electric Lawn and Garden Equipment Exchange Pilot Program (eL&G Program), now open for commercial operators of lawn and garden equipment to replace their existing equipment with new electric equipment. Registration is required to attend. The webinar will provide an overview of the voucher incentive program, eligible equipment types, application requirements, the application process, and a Q&A session.
Belmont Library Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors Program
Register for the Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors program at the Belmont Library on Jan. 16 from 10:30–11:30 a.m. This program covers common behavioral changes in dementia, how they serve as a form of communication, non-medical approaches to behaviors, and recognizing when additional help is needed.
