 Belmont Library Soft Opening
We're happy to share that the Belmont Library will have a soft opening on Saturday, July 12 and the library will resume its regular hours, Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library will reintroduce programs for all ages, including a special family storytime and summer adventure magic show on Saturday, July 12. Check out the events page for more details! Library materials can be picked up and returned at the Belmont Library, and mail-out holds will continue to be an option for those who selected home delivery during the closure through the end of July.
Thank you for your patience during this renovation. These updates are part of the ongoing efforts to create welcoming, functional, and inspiring spaces for everyone. Be sure to stay tuned for a Library Reopening Community Celebration in August, which will highlight the project and mark the official reopening of the library. The Belmont Police Department is now accepting applications for our next Community Police Academy starting August 27. If you're interested in a transparent, behind-the-scenes look at your local police department, we invite you to apply. Belmont Staff Attend County Alert and Warning Seminar
This week, our staff attended the San Mateo County Emergency Management Comprehensive Alert and Warning Seminar. The seminar brought together nearly 100 emergency management professionals from 37 organizations across eight Bay Area counties to address critical gaps in emergency communication systems that have contributed to preventable deaths in recent disasters. Join Us for the Last Belmont Summer Concert
The final Summer Concert in the Park will take place this Sunday, July 13, and is sponsored by Hometown Realty and Recology. This week’s band is back from last year, Pride and Joy, which is the Bay Area’s most popular dance band! This free concert will take place in the Twin Pines Park Meadow from 1 to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Come on out and enjoy this family-friendly community event that’s been around for over 45 years!

Public Works Highlights
Our Public Works Operations staff performed several tasks to enhance safety and functionality this week. Staff trimmed vegetation for traffic sign sight distance, replaced several traffic signs, replaced a failed green traffic signal light, resolved a walkway trip hazard with concrete grinding, and replaced over five tons of failed asphalt. The Public Works Operations team assisted Parks Operations staff by using an aerial lift truck for tree trimming at the Belmont Library. They also helped remove old BBQ grills, benches, and a shed at the Sports Complex and Nesbit School using a backhoe.

2025 Pavement Rehabilitation Project
The 2025 Pavement Rehabilitation Project broke ground this week, starting with concrete improvements that include the installation of new ADA-compliant curb ramps to enhance pedestrian access. Twin Pines Park Belmont Creek Restoration Project Update
Work on the Twin Pines Park Belmont Creek Restoration Project continued this week. Dewatering activities were successfully completed, and crews have begun reshaping the eroded creek banks. Twin Pines Park, west of the Veterans Memorial, remains closed. Please use caution and obey posted signage when driving along Ralston Avenue near Twin Pines Park, as construction vehicles may be entering or exiting the job site. Learn more about the project at .

Understanding and Supporting Mental Health In Our Communities Event
Join the Belmont Redwood Shores Rotary Club at the Alexandria in San Carlos for the Understanding and Supporting Mental Health In Our Communities event on Saturday, August 23, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free event aims to build a more informed, compassionate, and connected community where mental health is openly discussed and supported. It will feature expert speakers, including an interactive workshop for teens by Ambassadors of Compassion, as well as local resources. Please register to attend.
AYSO Registration is Open
Registration for the Fall 2025 American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) season is now open for youth ages 3–18. Participation is open to all registrants, no tryouts required! Scholarships are available for all who need them. Registration for ages five and up will close on July 25, and registration for ages 3–4 will close mid-September.
