 Applications Are Now Open for the Belmont Community Police Academy
The Belmont Police Department is currently accepting applications for the upcoming Community Police Academy, which begins on August 27. If you are interested in gaining a transparent, behind-the-scenes understanding of your local police department, we invite you to apply! This program offers an in-depth exploration of our department, covering our roles and responsibilities, programs, policies, and partnerships with other agencies. Belmont Staff Graduate from Leadership Programs
Congratulations to Tobi Liebermann, Jamie Guerrero, Nisha Patel, and Milana Jordan for their recent graduation from the Chamber of San Mateo County's 37th Leadership Program on June 13, 2025. Each cohort in the Leadership Program participates in ten diverse and engaging day-long sessions with experts, decision-makers, practitioners, and funders from various sectors, including business, government, non-profit, and education.
In addition, congratulations to Laura Kirby for completing the Leadership Council San Mateo County's Emerging Leaders Program, a 10-month immersive professional development experience for rising stars dedicated to fostering inclusive environments in their organizations and communities. Professional development is essential for Belmont staff to promote ongoing growth and innovation, ensuring a strategic future.

Hazardous Fuels Treatment Project along Ralston Ave & Lyall Way
Fire Safe San Mateo County (Fire Safe SMC), in collaboration with the Belmont Parks and Recreation Department, will be removing eight large eucalyptus trees and one already fallen tree along the south side of Ralston Avenue, between Continentals Way and Lyall Way. The tree removal work will begin on June 23 and is expected to be completed by June 27. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Removing the non-native eucalyptus trees near power lines will help reduce ignition potential and enhance the safety for many residents along Continentals Way. Summer concerts in the park continue this Sunday, June 22, sponsored by Divino Restaurant. This week’s band is new to Belmont, Live Wire, which features music from the 70’s, 80’s, and recent rock hits. This free concert will be held in Twin Pines Park Meadow from 1 to 4 p.m. Refreshments are available for purchase. The entire concert lineup is available here. Public Works Highlights
This week, the Public Works Operations staff focused on addressing overgrown vegetation and replacing traffic signs. They also worked on fixing streetlight outages, resolving issues with the traffic signal network, assisting Parks Operations staff with trimming city trees using an aerial lift truck, and replacing over 1 ton of failed asphalt throughout the city.
