Nesbit School Visits City Hall for Civics Day
We were thrilled to welcome Nesbit School’s 2nd grade students to Belmont City Hall last week for a fun and interactive Civics Day! Organized by our Office of Constituent Services—with support from our Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Police, and Fire Departments—this special day gave students a front-row seat to local government in action.
Students participated in a mock City Council meeting led by Mayor Julia Mates, behind-the-scenes tours of our Police Department, hands-on exploration of public works and fire vehicles, and outdoor activities in Twin Pines Park hosted by our Parks Department.
This special event gave our future community leaders a hands-on look at how local government works. Thank you to our staff who took the time to bring this event to life and provide an engaging and memorable experience for Nesbit students.
We can’t wait to welcome next year’s class—and invite other schools to reach out and schedule their own Civics Day experience at Belmont City Hall!

Hill Street Apartments Under Construction Soon
Hill Street Apartments, a 37-unit affordable housing development located at El Camino Real and Hill Street in Belmont, will soon be under construction! The project includes two new five-story buildings with on-site amenities for residents, including a tot lot and a community room. Construction is expected to begin around April 15 and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2026. This project represents a public-private partnership between the City and the developer, LINC Housing. The City provided the land and assisted with the financing of the project.
