Planning for Belmont’s Future – A Strategic Look Ahead
The City Council and senior staff came together for an important Strategic Planning Session this week to reflect on our progress and set priorities for the years ahead. This session marked the halfway point in implementing the City's 2035 General Plan—a vision first launched in 2015 to guide Belmont’s long-term growth and development.
Over the years, we’ve made significant strides in addressing our community’s priorities, from improving infrastructure and mobility to strengthening economic development, enhancing public safety, and ensuring financial and organizational sustainability. At the same time, we’ve had to navigate evolving state and federal regulations, economic shifts, and challenges like the pandemic—reinforcing the need for adaptability in our approach.
As we prepare to celebrate Belmont’s centennial in 2026, this planning effort ensures that we remain focused on delivering high-quality services, fostering a strong local economy, and maintaining the quality of life that makes our city such a special place. Community input has played a vital role in shaping these discussions, and we look forward to continued engagement as we move forward.
