 Letter From Your City Clerk
The City of Belmont would like to provide an update on the upcoming Municipal Election. We encourage all eligible voters to participate.
This November 5, Belmont residents will have the opportunity to vote on Measure DD, which is not a new tax on businesses and does not tax residents. Measure DD is designed to modernize and simplify the Business License Tax (BLT)—reducing the tax on small businesses and requiring larger businesses to contribute proportionately towards maintaining general City services such as police, emergency medical response, and street/road maintenance. If enacted, Measure DD will update the City’s 1976 BLT under which smaller businesses pay disproportionately more.
Additionally, Belmont voters will have the opportunity to vote on the mayor’s race and select Council representatives in Districts 2 and 4. You can view candidate ballot statements, contribution filings, and a map of Council Districts through the link below.
For information on how to vote, determine which Council District you reside in, and how to contact the County Registrar of Voters we encourage you to visit www.belmont.gov/elections.
Thank you for your participation on November 5.
Jozi Plut Belmont City Clerk

Water Dog Lake Dam Gates to Open Monday November 4
The Public Works maintenance staff will open the gates at water dog lake spillway on Monday, Nov. 4. The Department of Water Resources Division of Dams requires the spillway gates to remain in the fully open position through April 1. Water releases allow the rainwater to be released in a measured way due to rain events and are necessary during the rainy season to reduce possible flooding from the lake. Residents may notice higher than normal water levels in Belmont Creek during the first 24-hours once the gate is open.
