Your Guide to the 2024 Belmont Election: Mayor, Council, and Measure DD
The following are key updates for the Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024 General Municipal Election. Your vote shapes our city's future, so we encourage all to stay informed.
In 2022, Belmont underwent a districting process accompanied by extensive community outreach. This process created four voting districts with a similar number of constituents, empowering residents to select councilmembers. The mayor is elected "at-large," by voters citywide. Councilmembers serve four-year terms while the mayor at-large serves a two-year term.
Belmont's first mayor at-large was elected in 2022, along with councilmembers for Districts 1 and 3. This year, all Belmont voters will again vote for an at-large mayor and District 2 and 4 constituents will additionally elect their Councilmembers. Learn more about Belmont's districts and boundaries here.
The Nov. 5 election will also include Measure DD, a measure restructuring the City’s business license tax program. Learn more about Measure DD here.
Please find additional voter information here and a summary of Council candidates and local measure information here.
Traffic Advisory
Tuesday, Oct. 1 through Thursday, Oct. 3, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. one lane of eastbound Ralston Ave. will be closed between Davis Dr. and Cipriani Blvd. for road work. Please proceed with caution.

Signage & Wayfinding Project Update
On Sept. 17, the Planning Commission and Parks and Recreation Commission provided valuable feedback on Belmont's draft Signage and Wayfinding Program. This project is designed to create a cohesive look throughout our community; improve navigation for all modes of travel; guide visitors to landmarks, facilities, and services; establish appropriately themed entry point and neighborhood identification; promote walking, bicycling, and mass transit; and be sustainable and expandable. We anticipate bringing a final Signage/Wayfinding program to our City Council for adoption later this fall.
