 Stanford Belmont Campus: EIR Public Comment Period Closing Soon
Stanford University is pursuing the purchase of Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU) to renovate and revitalize the campus for continued academic use in a phased manner over a 30-year timeframe. The City of Belmont has prepared an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) to analyze the potential environmental impacts of this plan under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The City is welcoming public comments on this EIR now through Sept. 16, 2024.

Caltrain Goes Fully Electric from San Francisco to San Jose Sept. 21
Caltrain enters a new era on Sept. 21 when the new, faster, and more frequent electric schedule launches. Celebratory events are planned throughout the system and riders will enjoy free fares over the weekend. Belmont will hold its event on Sunday, Sept. 22, noon-2 p.m. at the Belmont Caltrain Station. Join us in celebrating with free ice cream from Mr. Softee!

Trunk or Treat
Join in the ghoulishly fun time on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 5:30-7 p.m. in the parking lot in front of the Parks and Recreation office in Twin Pines Park. Check out amazing, decorated cars and get lots of delicious candy! Costumes encouraged, and event is free and open to all ages. No registration required, unless you are decorating your car. To decorate your car for this event, please register here by Wednesday, Oct. 16.

This week, our Public Works staff continued to clean graffiti, replace damaged signs, fill potholes, and work on traffic signal issues. They also replaced over 15 tons of failed asphalt citywide!

Shining A Light on Suicide Prevention: Candle Decorating Workshop
Join the workshop at the Belmont Library on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 4-6 p.m. to shine a light on suicide prevention and remember lost loved ones. Youth-centered local organizations will be tabling with information and giveaways, and snacks will be provided. This event is for ages 12 and up.
Sept. 10 is World Suicide Prevention Day, so regardless of workshop attendance, all are encouraged to show their support by lighting a candle near a window at 8 p.m.
