 Belmont Celebrates National Night Out
Belmont’s National Night Out was a big success, with nine neighborhoods coming together to participate. We value the opportunity to strengthen our community bonds, making Belmont an even safer and more vibrant place to live, work, and play. National Night Out offers a chance to enhance our sense of community, bringing neighbors together for an evening of fun, food, and connection.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the neighborhood hosts, Belmont Police Department, San Mateo Consolidated Fire, Belmont City staff, and our City Council for their efforts in making this night memorable. We are also deeply grateful for the support of our community partners—Rethink Waste, Recology, and Mid-Peninsula Water District—whose participation helped make this event a success.

Community Center Conversation
Make your voice heard and join us Thursday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. in Barrett Community Center, room 19, for our next Community Center Conversation. The City of Belmont is working hard to secure the continuity of the Community Center, which includes considering utilizing developer contributions from new construction and seeking infrastructure grant funding opportunities to leverage for Community Center needs. Should the City also consider utilizing the Community Center as an emergency relief center, the City can seek matching funds from the State or County as well. Learn more here.

Construction for the 2024 Pavement Project will take place over the next week. The work includes applying a slurry seal—a thin layer of asphalt and aggregate that is cost-effective and quick to apply—on several miles of city roadway, extending the life of the roadways by 5-7 years. Additionally, there will be more intensive repairs in small, structurally damaged areas. Temporary lane closures and traffic control measures will be in place during the construction.
