 2024 Elections: Nomination Period Open
The City of Belmont will hold a General Municipal Election on Nov. 5, 2024. This year, residents will have the opportunity to run for positions in two council districts and the at-large mayor position. Two seats on the five-member City Council will be up for election—one seat from Council District 2 and one seat from Council District 4, both for four-year terms. Additionally, the position of at-large mayor will be up for election for a two-year term.
The nomination period is currently open and closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, 2024. Districts 1 and 3 will hold elections in 2026. Information about Belmont’s Election Districts can be found here.
The County of San Mateo Elections Office is offering a virtual Candidate Filing Seminar on July 24 at 10 a.m. to help potential candidates navigate the process. Whether you're considering running for City Council or Mayor, these seminars are designed to provide essential information on candidacy requirements, filing procedures, and more. Crews repaired multiple pedestrian barriers, refreshed red curb paint, fabricated and repaired signs, worked on street light outages, repaired malfunctioning red traffic signal lights at Ralston and Alameda, replaced ten tons of failed asphalt, and constructed a new ADA curb ramp which required the replacement of nine tons of asphalt. Public Works and Parks Operations staff continued to team up for tree trimming projects, both on the Water Dog Lake Trail and for the 2023 Pavement Project in progress.
