The City of Belmont is pleased to announce the appointment of Tobi Liebermann as the housing and economic development manager. This role is a vital part of the City’s strategic plan to facilitate housing development, advance commercial development, and work with the business community to contribute to the City’s economic diversity and vitality.
Liebermann has significant experience in both housing and economic development from his prior work at the Santa Clara Housing Authority, Bay Area Rapid Transit Real Estate Development Division, UC Berkeley Real Estate Office, and MidPen Housing.
Liebermann earned his bachelor’s degree in history from the University of California, Los Angeles, followed by a master’s in city and regional planning from the University of California, Berkeley.
"It is good to be back on the Peninsula where I got my start working in affordable housing,” said Liebermann. “I see this role as a culmination of my experience working on public private partnerships, housing development, and economic development and I am eager to make a contribution to the community with regard to supporting housing production and implementing the City’s economic development vision.”
Afshin Oskoui, city manager, stated, "Economic development and housing are a key component of the City’s Strategic Plan to create a vibrant and thriving community that supports long-term fiscal sustainability, provides a diversity of housing choices, and supports our local businesses. Tobi’s expertise in housing development and public sector real estate will help the City achieve this vision."
Liebermann assumed his new role on Tuesday, May 27.
