 Belmont Celebrates Pride Month
In June we celebrate and honor LGBTQIA+ individuals and the strides made in the movement for love and acceptance. Thank you to all who came to our Pride Flag Raising Ceremony on Tuesday to support our LGBTQIA+ community. Our goal is to foster a sense of belonging for every member of our community. Embracing diversity enriches us all and makes our city stronger and more vibrant. Thank you for being part of this journey toward a more inclusive and compassionate community.
San Mateo Consolidated Fire Assists Neighboring Jurisdiction
On June 3rd, emergency services responded to a call at 2700 Middlefield Rd. in an unincorporated area under the Menlo Park Fire District's jurisdiction. Units from Redwood City and Menlo Park rushed to the scene, discovering a fire in progress on the fifth floor of a six-story apartment building under construction.
As the situation unfolded, San Mateo Consolidated Fire (SMC Fire) units were called to assist with the incident and dispatched seven engines, two ladder trucks, and one battalion chief to the scene. SMC Fire played a critical role in deploying large fire streams to combat the blaze and safeguarding 12 nearby homes from burning debris. Additionally, two extra engines from San Mateo Consolidated were deployed to cover the southern area of the county's fire stations.
As the fire subsided, San Mateo Consolidated companies were gradually released, with all resources returning to SMC jurisdiction that evening. A special thank you to all of our first responders and SMC Fire for supporting our neighbors with a swift and successful response.
