 Local Youth Invited to Reflect on a Legacy of Justice
On Monday, Jan. 15, we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who delivered a powerful message of peace and justice.
To reflect on this message, we invite youth grades 3rd-12th to submit a poem or short essay responding to King's famous quote "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
Please note that City offices and the Belmont Library will be closed on Monday, Jan. 15 in observance of the holiday. As always, emergency services will remain in place. For non-emergency issues, please call (650) 595-7400.

Traffic Advisory
On Wednesday, Jan. 17, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., we will close a single lane on Ralston Ave. at South Rd. for thermo-plastic striping. See current traffic advisories.

Public Works Operations Update
This week, we continued preparing for the "2024 Slurry Seal Project" by replacing 8.5 tons of failed asphalt on Anita Ct. and O'Neil Ave. at Kedith St.
We also constructed a small retaining wall to protect the Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RPFB) signal pole on the north side of the crosswalk to Twin Pines Park on Ralston Ave.

Pavement Project Advances
We are working hard to improve aging pavement citywide. On Jan. 9, the City Council approved award of the "2023 Pavement Project" to Ghilotti Bros., Inc.

Tax Collector Announces Changes in Payment Options
To streamline payment processing, moving forward, the County Treasurer/Tax Collector's Office will only accept one split payment method for property tax payments. Second installments of secured taxes are due Feb. 1, and a 10% penalty plus $40 will be incurred if not received by April 10. Learn more.
Call for One Day Homeless Count Volunteers
The County is recruiting volunteers for the One Day Homeless Count on Thursday, Jan. 25. The commitment includes one training session prior to the event, and efforts support local planning, grant funding, and efforts to provide pathways to housing. Learn More.
