Belmont Opens its Doors for Halloween
Two Events Transform City Hall into Spooktacular Fun
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Oct. 24, 2023
For the second year, Belmont is opening its City Hall doors for a one-of-a-kind welcome party. On Tuesday, Oct. 31 – yes, Halloween – Belmont is hosting its second annual City HALLoween from 4 to 6 p.m. Costumed visitors to Belmont's City Hall in 2022, pictured here.
City staff have been readying the (fun, not scary) spooktacular décor in a secret location while waiting for City Hall to complete its important regular business. Starting very soon, the decorations will begin to be installed, the webbing will get stretched across walls, the lights and the sounds of Halloween will take over and City Hall will be transformed for one night only.
“At every public meeting, I see that making our public house a fun place to be, to enter, to visit matters very much to our residents,” said Belmont City Clerk Jozi Plut. “I wanted to create a safe space for our local kids to enjoy Halloween, an annual celebration that my family and I have always enjoyed right here at home.”

Last year’s inaugural event attracted about 250 people, many who had never before had a reason to visit City Hall.
“It was refreshing to our staff to meet so many people as they enjoyed visiting their own city’s City Hall for the first time,” Plut added. “We are lucky to have some dedicated and talented staff who know how to create a welcoming experience for our residents."
And the City HALLoween isn’t the only festive experience for Belmont residents, on Friday, Oct. 27 from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Belmont’s Parks and Recreation staff will host its Trunk and Treat event outside the department’s offices in Twin Pines Park. Both events rely on staff donating their spare time, all worth it to create the memories of a lifetime for Belmont’s residents of all ages.
The events are free, open to all, and costumes are encouraged.
