Planning Commission Meetings
1st and 3rd Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Council Chambers 1 Twin Pines Lane, Belmont
Maintenance Work This Week
Street signs, red curb and potholes: Public Works Street & Traffic Operations has been busy this week. We fabricated and fixed many signs across the city, refreshed 550 feet of red curb paint on Old County Road, and filled potholes by request on Middle Road, E Street, and Laurel Street.
Traffic Signal Maintenance: We also responded to traffic signal delays on upper Ralston.
There were some vehicle detection problems at Hallmark, Belmont Canyon Road, Tahoe, and Cipriani that caused long wait times for a green light.
Sometimes missed vehicle detection is caused by glare from sunrise and sunset which impacts camera visibility. Camera lenses get dirty over time which exacerbates glare from the sun.
Staff reset some control equipment and cleaned the vehicle detection camera lenses to help resolve these issues.
All traffic signals are believed to be in good working order now, but, if you experience further delays, please contact us at Pworks@belmont.gov or 650-595-7425 with date, location and time.
Sidewalk reconstruction: The big job for Street & Traffic Operations this week was replacing a section of broken sidewalk over a drain inlet in front of 1040 Alameda de la Pulgas.
We removed all broken concrete, rebuilt the support structure of the gutter inlet to the drain, and restored the sidewalk with just over a yard of concrete.
This job necessitated closing the sidewalk during work to keep pedestrians safe, but the sidewalk will be open for business by the end of the day today, just in time for the Greek Festival this weekend.
