Maintenance Work This Week
The parking stall striping on Buena Vista Avenue was completed this week and we're so pleased to see that our training last week is already paying off.

The finished product is something to be proud of. We will return before school is in session to restripe the crosswalk at Monserat Avenue.

Training Time
Our Operations staff received professional Traffic Control and Flagger Safety training this week.
We execute a lot of required annual training internally that covers the range of work we do, but with several new staff on board and the multitude of in-house projects on Ralston Avenue this summer, this professional contractor-led training was essential for the safety of our staff, and the public.
Please remember to Slow for the Cone Zone. We appreciate it when you do.
Summer Infrastructure Projects
Ralston Avenue Pavement Project on Schedule
Adding to the details you read above, a reminder that from July 10-12, the most visible – and innovative -- stage of the project will proceed, and we recommend that you avoid this segment of Ralston while the train moves through. Yes, we said train.
Our project is utilizing a sustainable cold-in-place recycled method of pavement rehabilitation (see the image of the ‘train’ in use here).
Phases Updates
We have completed base repairs and wedge grinding on the street.
Next week's cold-in-place recycled method utilizes old asphalt by crushing the existing pavement and mixing with stabilizing agents to lay a new layer of asphalt onto the street.
Driveway Access
Driveway access could be limited for up to an hour during next week's work. Samtrans has been notified of bus stop changes / closures. General notices were sent out to all affected business and homeowners on July 1. Have questions? Email us at pworks@belmont.gov or call 650-595-7425.
More About the Sustainable Cold-in-Place Method
Using the cold-in-place recycled method of pavement rehabilitation, Belmont reduces construction-related waste and landfill usage contributing to a more sustainable approach to infrastructure maintenance.
We’re shortening the project time, too, and keeping our commitment to finishing this improvement before school-related drop offs and pick-ups begin again. Once the train completes its work, we’ll move on to the next stage of the work to complete it on time.
All of these efforts help us to save taxpayer dollars while delivering on our promise for strengthened infrastructure in our city.
