Youth Quiet Space Winding Down as School Season Ends The Hideout Participants Look Ahead to Summer Fun
Local youth participating in The Hideout program are almost done with school, but they aren't letting that stop them from learning new skills and games.
We're proud to provide a quiet space for Belmont youth in grades six through eight to hang out, socialize, focus on homework, or just chill. Nestled in Barrett Community Center, the Hideout provides a wide variety of activities for local youth including meal prep and table manners and etiquette.
Pictured above, the youth display the results of their lessons in cutlery and plating placement. Once the tables were set, the kids enjoyed their own handmade pizzas, baked from scratch onsite.

Get to know: Twin Pines Park Storm Water Detention Basin project
In a two-part project (The Creek Restoration Project and Stormwater Detention Basin project) will address the severe erosion and bank failure in Twin Pines Park, and construction of a low-flow sediment capture basin, which further reduces sediment transport downstream.
We were awarded a $1M Urban Streams Restoration Grant from California Department of Water Resources. The grant requires a minimum local match and we share percentages of local matching funds and a percentage of shared obligation for creek restoration with San Carlos and the County of San Mateo. We are the lead agency for this project.
