May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
We join the County of San Mateo to promote this year's #Share4MH theme, which aims to foster community sharing of mental health and well-being strategies.
The Belmont Library also hosting events that encourage Writing Toward Creative Calm.
Join us for "Relax Into Writing" led by local author Jenny Bitner and "Creative Journaling" led by life coach Nicole Member, which will provide opportunities to explore thoughts and emotions through writing.
Sound the Alarm - May 6 by Appointment Only
On May 6, the American Red Cross and San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department will install 10-year smoke alarms by appointment for residents in Belmont.

Volunteers Needed: Summer Concert Series
Volunteer are needed at one or more Belmont Park Boosters summer concerts in Twin Pines Park this summer. Concerts will occur on Sundays: June 18 and 25 and July 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30.
Volunteers typically arrive at 11 a.m. for setup and depart around 4:30 p.m. after cleanup. Partial shifts available based on the volunteer's availability.
All ages welcome, and no experience necessary.

Belmont Mountaineers Youth summer hiking program
Calling all young hikers! Belmont youth in grades sixth through eight are invited to join the City's Hideout staff for morning hikes through Belmont's popular open space.
Participants will learn how to make nutritious trail mix before venturing outdoors on their group hikes. We're starting in Hallmark Park with more dates and location details to come.

The Hideout Open House

Activity Guide Focus: Sharpen Your Soccer Skills This Summer
The World Cup Soccer Camps program is back this summer with four exciting weeks of camp. The camp offers three different programs/age groups:
- Junior Academy for 5- to 6-year-olds
- Classic Skill Camp for 7- to 9-year-olds
- Development Academy for 10- to 13-year-olds
Half day and full day class options are available. The camps offer skilled coaches who make these camps instructional and fun for every age level.

Local Entertainment - 'Matilda' Three Shows Only
Ralston Middle School, in partnership with San Carlos Children’s Theater, presents Roald Dahl’s production of "Matilda The Musical JR."
Based on the beloved book “Matilda” by Roald Dahl, "Matilda The Musical JR." tells the story of an extraordinary girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand against the school’s cruel headmistress, Miss Trunchbull. In doing so, she changes her own destiny and that of her kind teacher, Miss Honey.
The show is packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs. Show organizers predict you will be on your feet rooting for Matilda and all the revolting children, and you'll especially cheer for the performances of the local Ralston students who act, sing, and dance their hearts out.
Tickets are now on sale for all three shows: Friday, May 19, 2023 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Does the parent in your life need advice about using a smartphone? Have you ever wondered if you could just ask a teenager for help?
We've got you covered; Carlmont High School students, in partnership with our Parks and Recreation Department, want to help seniors in our community stay in touch using their digital devices.
If you, or someone you know, needs help with anything from smartphones, to tablets, to computers, come on by and our student volunteers and staff will be there to walk you through the steps to being online savvy in our digital world.
This is a free service, drop in, and is open to all.
