County Health Not (Yet) Ready to Mandate Masks Indoors Again No plans for a Return to Mask Rules, but COVID surges worry health officials
On Friday, the County of San Mateo announce it is not planning to implement a universal indoor masking requirement at this time. Still, with a higher prevalence of COVID-19 in the community, San Mateo County Health urges businesses, venue operators, event hosts, faith organizations, and other groups to consider requiring masks indoors and to increase indoor ventilation.
County Health continues to recommend prevention strategies, including wearing a high-quality mask indoors, staying current with vaccinations and boosters, and getting tested and treated if eligible.

National Suicide Prevention Hotline - Open for Service
Call 988 if You or Someone You Know is Having a Mental Health Crisis
As of July 16, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced a new, nationwide, 3-digit phone number for Americans in crisis to connect with suicide prevention and mental health crisis counselors. The rules require all phone service providers to direct all 988 calls to the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
Since 2008, suicide has ranked as the tenth leading cause of death in the United States. Suicide claimed the lives of more than 48,000 Americans in 2018, resulting in about one death every 11 minutes. An FCC staff report to Congress in 2019 proposed establishing 988 as an easy to remember three-digit code for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
For those who feel they are in need of immediate emergency services, please dial 911.
