Election Season is Here
Call for Councilmembers and At-large Mayor opens July 18.
Did you know that how you vote in Belmont in November has changed? When you vote on Nov. 8 this year, you will choose councilmembers in Districts 1 and 3 for the VERY FIRST TIME, and you will also select an At-large Mayor for a 2-year term.
In 2021, Belmont shifted to a new model for voting by identifying four districts that equally represent Belmont on our City Council.
Want to be a candidate? Starting July 18 and only until Aug. 12, 2022, Belmont's nomination period is open for Councilmembers for Districts 1 and 3 AND At-large Mayor. (Districts 2, 4, and At-large Mayor will be up in 2024).
To find all of the details – and a map of districts – visit www.Belmont.gov/Districts.
An appointment is required for all interested candidates. Call our City Clerk at: (650)-595-7413 or email at cclerk@belmont.gov. Candidates will be announced Aug. 19.

County Moves to CDC's High/Red COVID Level
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) moved San Mateo County from Medium/Yellow to the High/Red COVID-19 Community Level category due to increasing hospitalizations in San Mateo and San Francisco counties and demand on local health care systems.
With the move to the higher-risk category, the CDC recommends wearing a mask indoors in public and on public transportation, getting vaccinated, testing if symptomatic, and connecting with a doctor or Test-to-Treat offering if infected.

County Health Increases Awareness of Monkeypox
San Mateo County Health is monitoring the current monkeypox situation, working with local medical providers to increase awareness of the symptoms of monkeypox, how to prevent transmission, and appropriate reporting to state and local health authorities.
The virus spreads through prolonged skin-to-skin contact and bodily fluids, such as through crowded settings or sexual contact. One confirmed case of monkeypox has been reported in San Mateo County. The risk of monkeypox to the community is low, however, engaging in higher-risk behaviors can increase a person’s risk.
