PG&E Commercial Building Retrofit Series: Electrification--May 11, 2022, 8:30am – 1:00 pm
PG&E’s Energy Center announces a five-part Commercial Building Retrofit series of expert-lead webinars. These presentations are free and open to the public with continuing education credits offered.
Electrification involves the replacement of gas-fired equipment with systems that run on electricity and is something that all building owners should consider to meet carbon emissions goals. This training will address the unique challenges involved in converting existing buildings and their systems to all-electric designs. Special attention will be given to electrification of existing mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP) systems, such as space heating and domestic/service hot water production. Planning strategies for an evolving utility grid and case study project examples will be shared. Register HERE.
Why does this matter to you?
To reach the ambitious energy reduction and emissions goals set at the national and state levels, there must be a concerted effort to pursue improvements with our existing building stock. According to Next 10’s study titled “Untapped Potential of Commercial Buildings Energy Use and Emissions,” these buildings represent 37% of California’s total electricity consumption, and energy efficiency improvements using readily-available technologies could reduce the energy use of these facilities by 80 percent. The opportunity is vast and the time to act is now.

As a result, masks are not requirement on public transit and in transportation hubs in California. CDPH, CDC and County Health, however, strongly recommend that individuals in these settings continue to wear a mask.
