 Election District Map Selected
On March 22, 2022, the Belmont City Council adopted an ordinance changing the method of electing residents to the city council from at-large to by-district with an elected mayor; this change is made in compliance with the California Voting Rights Act of 2001. The ordinance states that the geographic area of city will be divided into four council districts the boundaries of which the council will determine by resolution at the April 12, 2022 regular meeting.
For a Plastic-Free Future! Information for Food Facilities
The City of Belmont and San Mateo County recently updated the Foodware Ordinance to come into alignment and reflect new state requirements for AB 1276 and AB 1200. Check out the SMCO Model Disposable Food Service Ware Ordinance Summary for a snapshot of the ordinance.
Find out who’s affected, what’s allowed, exemptions, the new enforcement timeline, and the financial and technical assistance your business needs to switch over. Visit San Mateo County’s Resources for Food Facilities for guidance on how to get started and meet requirements.
How do you know if you’re a target for hackers?
The answer? If you use a mobile phone, tablet, computer or smart device (including cars), you should assume you are a target.
World events have highlighted the importance of cybersecurity even more, so I wanted to share some resources you can use to protect yourselves, your families and your finances:
If you have a small business in Belmont, please take advantage of this free resource which offers training and other resources.
Here are three easy things you can do right now:
- Make sure to update your devices, apps, and software as soon as updates are available. Turning on automatic updates makes the process easier.
- Don’t click on links or attachments in texts, emails or social media posts unless you can verify they’re legitimate.
- Beware of online requests that seem urgent or ask you for sensitive information, even if they look legitimate. It’s always worth the extra time to verify authenticity first by calling your bank, credit card company or other organizations that are often the target of “spoofed” accounts.
