City of Belmont Updated Face Covering Requirements
In alignment with the State, in San Mateo County universal mask requirements will be lifted for most indoor public settings beginning Wednesday, February 16.
Guidance for City Facility Visitors - Due to localized safety considerations, visitors to all indoor City of Belmont facilities will still be required to wear a face covering until Monday, February 28th, at which time only unvaccinated individuals over age 2 will continue to be required to wear masks in all indoor public settings.
Outdoor programs, including youth and adult sports, are highly encouraged to continue to require face coverings, but each contractor or sports league may now make its own determination for its participants, coaches, and spectators, based on, among other things, player age and vaccination eligibility, level of exertion, and proximity to others.
Barrett Community Learning Center and all indoor school and enrichment programs at Barrett Community Center will continue to require face coverings indoors. This is in keeping with the current statewide mandate requiring face coverings in schools for students and educators. The state will announce additional information on February 28, which the City will then consider alongside further guidance from the County of San Mateo and BRSSD.
The Twin Pines Senior & Community Center will continue to require face coverings indoors until further notice as it serves a vulnerable population. The Center’s outdoor grab and go lunch program will continue to require face coverings at lunch pickup for the protection of staff and volunteers.
Facility rentals will follow the City’s face covering requirements and timeline which maintains indoor face covering requirements at least through the end of February. Capacity limitations will be reviewed in March.
Twin Pines Art Center visitors must follow the City’s face covering requirements and timeline.
In all instances, please continue to be kind and understanding of an individual’s right to choose to continue to wear a face covering even if others are not or a program’s choice to continue to require face coverings. Face coverings are a form of protection for yourself and others. We’re all in this together.
Please also continue to follow recommended precautions: stay home if you have symptoms, wash your hands frequently, etc.
