Hello,
Some of you are wondering what’s happening with the Napa Valley Ruins and Gardens (aka “the Town Center”). Concert promoter Blue Note held four concerts this fall – two more will occur later this month. We welcomed several thousand guests to American Canyon with only scant disturbances or issues. This “proof of concept” has been a resounding success and portends bigger and better things for next year. Need more proof of the fun that is yet to come? Check out this link to see a glimpse of the inaugural performance by musician Kaskade.
Want to learn more? Next Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 6:30 p.m., the City Council will receive an update related to Watson Ranch/Napa Valley Ruins and Gardens – please join us or tune in to learn more.
In other exciting news, American Canyon is being recognized as one of five “Top Performers” nationwide and we are finalists for two separate “Best in Governance Awards”. The recognition is the result of the 2024 National Community Survey undertaken by Polco/National Research Center. The confidential survey reflects the sentiments and opinions of American Canyon residents and compares the results against hundreds of other similar-sized cities across the nation. The first category is “Education, Arts & Culture” which is not surprising considering the Chamber’s Meet Me in the Street and the academic success of our schools. And the continued success at NVRG will only add to our cultural landscape.
The second category is “Safety”. This recognition is also not surprising considering our top-notch partners at the American Canyon Fire Protection District and American Canyon Police Department/Napa Sheriff’s Office.
Congratulations and a special Thank You to Chamber President/CEO Valerie Zizak-Morais, Superintendent Dr. Rosanna Mucetti, Fire Chief Geoff Belyea and Police Chief Rick Greenberg. We share these awards with you and your teams!
Take care,
Jason B. Holley City Manager

This week has been a powerful one for American Canyon. As The Wall That Heals made its way through our streets and into Independence Park, residents came together to honor those who served during the Vietnam War.
As a Navy veteran, I’ve stood beside many who know the true meaning of service and sacrifice. Seeing the faces of our residents—young and old—pausing to reflect, offer thanks, or simply stand in silence reminded me of what makes our city so special: our respect for service and our compassion for one another.
Throughout the weekend, there are still opportunities to visit and take part in this moment of remembrance. On Saturday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m., the In Memory Ceremony will honor those we’ve lost, featuring a keynote address from Congressman Mike Thompson. The Wall will be lit teal to raise awareness for PTSD. On Sunday, Oct. 19 at 1:30 p.m., we’ll gather again for the Closing Ceremony before the exhibit departs for its next destination.
I want to thank our veterans, volunteers, City staff members, and community partners who helped make this week possible. Your support ensured that this national exhibit was welcomed with the care and dignity it deserves.
If you haven’t visited yet, The Wall That Heals will remain open 24 hours a day at Independence Park, 20 Benton Way, until it closes on Sunday, October 19, at 2 p.m. I encourage you to take the time to walk the exhibit, visit the Mobile Education Center, and reflect on the legacy of those who gave so much.
Together in service, Mayor Pierre Washington
