Speaking of exciting events, American Canyon Chamber of Commerce’s Meet Me in the Street was a huge success earlier this week. It was a fun night filled with delicious food, special entertainment and community spirit. Missed out on this week’s event? Don’t worry, there are still two more chances to join the fun on July 9 and August 13. We hope to see you there.
We’re also proud to honor African American heritage, history and freedom as we recognize Juneteenth. Earlier today, community members gathered at City Hall for the Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony to kick off the celebration. In partnership with the American Canyon Arts Foundation, we invite you to join us for our fourth annual Juneteenth Celebration at Main Street Park on Sunday, June 15 from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. for an afternoon of live entertainment, gospel, food trucks and more.
As a reminder, City offices and facilities will be closed on Thursday, June 19 in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.
Alongside our community celebrations, the City is making great progress on a number of important infrastructure projects. Here’s a look at what’s happening:
Knightsbridge Way We’re excited to announce the completion of all paving and water main replacements! This is still an active project and should be completed soon.
Rancho Del Mar Water Main installation on Rio Del Mar is expected to be completed, including the final tie-in, by next week. This work will require temporary daytime and nighttime water shut-offs. Affected residents will receive a notice at least 48 hours prior to the work. Please note that emergency water shut-offs may occur if unexpected breaks or leaks arise. Sewer work will continue over the next three weeks. Traffic control and detours will be in place.
Melvin Road The contractor kicked off this project last week by beginning layout and other preparation activities for concrete work. This week, work has steadily progressed and shifted toward the intersection of Poco Way and Melvin Road, where the contractor began layout and other preparation activities for concrete work.
Thank you for being a part of what makes American Canyon such a special place to live, work and play!
Take care,
Jason B. Holley City Manager

Summer in American Canyon is brimming with opportunities to connect, learn and celebrate! We have some local celebrities in our midst – our very own hardworking sheep were featured in a recent video from KTVU! American Canyon proudly utilizes sheep as a form of vegetation management to maintain a healthier, more fire-resistant landscape. As both Mayor and Chair of the American Canyon Fire Protection District Board of Directors, fire prevention is constantly a top priority to protect our community. This partnership with Napa Communities Firewise Foundation, American Canyon Fire Protection District and Napa Pasture Protein plays a vital role in reducing the accumulation of dry grasses and other flammable vegetation that can fuel wildfires. I am grateful for our continued collaboration, and look forward to seeing where the sheep move next!
All summer long, we’re offering a wide range of opportunities for our community to make the most of the season. Whether you’re looking to cool off, try something new or just enjoy time with community, we have plenty of fun for residents of all ages:
- Beat the heat at the Phillip West Aquatics Center, with open swim hours and aquatic activities for all ages.
- Explore our exciting lineup of summer camps. From Little Green Thumbs to Smorga-Sports camp, there’s something for everyone.
- Pick up a new skill or hobby through engaging youth courses.
And that’s just the beginning. Stay tuned for details about some of our most beloved summer traditions, including 4th of July, National Night Out and more. If you’d like to be part of the action, you can register your group or organization now to be in the 4th of July parade.
This weekend is filled with cultural celebrations. On Saturday, join the Fil-Am Association at 10:30 a.m. for their second annual Barangay Fiesta celebration at Shenandoah Park. This celebration offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with the local Filipino-American community and celebrate the rich history of the Philippines.

We also invite you to join us for our annual Juneteenth Celebration in partnership with American Canyon Arts Foundation. This event is a joyful and powerful celebration featuring cultural performances, educational opportunities, food vendors and local small businesses. I’m looking forward to celebrating with you this Sunday.
I look forward to seeing you out there this summer!
Together in service, Mayor Pierre Washington

Wetlands Edge Project Update
The Wetlands Edge Project is officially underway and has made significant progress over the last couple weeks. The contractor completed final grading for the new pathways, the restroom location and the shade structure pad. These improvements are helping to create a more inviting and accessible park experience for all.
Crews are now installing steel edging along the path borders to stabilize and define the walkways. New shade trees will soon be planted near the existing benches along the pathway, bringing comfort and natural beauty to the area.
As summer break begins, the contractor will also begin sidewalk and road work along Wetlands Edge Road to complete the utility connections for the new restroom. Please watch for traffic control and pedestrian detours as work progresses.
We appreciate your continued support and patience as we work to improve Wetlands Edge for the community and local wildlife. Read the full construction update.
