AMERICAN CANYON, Calif. — On June 3, 2025, the American Canyon City Council adopted its $154.2 million Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget, reflecting the City’s continued growth and dedication to improving roads, facilities and community services.

“This budget details our financial approach to delivering high-quality City services and advancing key projects and initiatives," said City Manager Jason Holley. “I’m proud of the hard work both staff and the City Council invested in this effort as American Canyon continues to honor its commitment to responsible fiscal stewardship.”

The budget process began in February 2025 with collaboration across City departments. The proposed budget was then presented to the Finance Subcommittee on May 8 and to City Council on May 20, incorporating their feedback before the final adoption on June 3.

The City’s main operating budget totals $32.7 million and is balanced with no shortfall. Property tax revenues are projected to increase, driven by new home construction and sales. The budget includes the addition of four new city employees to serve the growing community, spanning four departments.

The City will invest $48.2 million in roads, parks and infrastructure improvements, with major projects including $16.4 million for the Green Island Road reconstruction and walking trail project and $8.1 million for Rancho Del Mar street paving and utility improvements. Public safety remains a top priority, with $9.8 million allocated for police services provided by the Napa County Sheriff’s Office.

The City maintains healthy financial reserves of $11.4 million, including emergency funds representing 25% of annual spending. Water and sewer budgets address utility needs, with $2 million for a new water pump station and $3.1 million for sewer system improvements.

American Canyon continues to grow with new homes and businesses, as well as industrial developments that contribute to the City’s revenue. Three new hotels are planned, with one currently under construction and a new restaurant expected to open in Summer 2025.
