Hello,
Pardon our dust! The City is making steady progress on a number of important infrastructure projects. Here’s a look at what’s happening:
Green Island Road Widening and Reconstruction Project The City Council officially awarded a contract for the Green Island Road Widening and Reconstruction Project on May 20. The contractor, OC Jones, Inc., will build major infrastructure improvements to the area. Work will include new sidewalks, bike lanes, sewer and water lines. Roadwork will involve a combination of repaving and reconstruction along Green Island Road, Jim Oswalt Way, Mezzetta Court, Commerce Boulevard and Hanna Drive, depending on the condition of each road. We’ll continue to share updates as this important project gets underway.
Rancho Del Mar Improvements The contractor has begun ADA curb ramp construction. Ongoing sewer work is expected to continue for another 3-4 weeks. Pavement rehabilitation work is currently scheduled to begin late July. Traffic control and detours will remain in place to help keep traffic flowing safely.
Knightsbridge Way Reconstruction Paving on the courts (Regent Court, Park Lane, Lansford Court, Linwood Lane, Arden Court) is complete, and water main replacement is complete. Knightsbridge Way remains fully closed on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. as crews complete the final stages of construction. Flaggers will continue to assist with traffic during construction hours.

This week I’d like to celebrate some incredible accomplishments at American Canyon High School.
I would like to start by sending my congratulations to the class of 2025. The City is thrilled to have such amazing students leading the way to a better and brighter future for everyone in American Canyon. You’ve made your City proud, graduates!
In addition to outstanding academic achievements, ACHS students made history in athletics this year. Through hard work, dedication, and teamwork, the ACHS football team captured the 2024 CIF State 5-A Championship – the first title in school history. The boys and girls swim teams also delivered an incredible performance, earning the 2024 Vine Valley Athletic League title and showcasing the strength and spirit of ACHS athletics. We couldn’t be prouder of our student-athletes, coaches, and entire school community who supported them along the way. Go Wolves!
We also bid a heartfelt farewell to Head Coach Trevor Hudson, whose leadership and tenacity guided the team to incredible success. As he prepares to take on a new role in Colorado, Coach Hudson leaves behind a lasting legacy on both the football program and the lives of the students he mentored. We thank him for his dedication to our community and wish him all the best in this next chapter.
Together in service, Mayor Pierre Washington

American Canyon Announces Adoption of Its 2040 General Plan Update
On May 20, 2025, the American Canyon City Council approved the 2040 General Plan Update. This milestone reflects five years of community-driven planning, technical analysis and thoughtful deliberation.
The 2040 General Plan Update will guide the City’s growth, land use and major policy direction for the next generation. The General Plan serves as a guiding framework, establishing the City’s long-term vision and priorities. It provides a coordinated structure for specific elements including land use, housing, parks and recreation, mobility and transportation, community safety and environmental justice. Together, these sections guide decision-making and provide direction for future plans, projects and policies.
The City will continue to track progress on key initiatives through annual reports and an implementation matrix to measure progress toward General Plan objectives. Check out the full press release.
