Hello,
Public Works week is next week, and it couldn’t come at a better time. Amidst all the work happening around town, this observance presents the perfect opportunity to celebrate our dedicated Public Works staff and all their hard work this year.
Kick off the celebration by attending the Water Reclamation Facility Open House on Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Come learn about how your wastewater is treated and meet the team behind-the-scenes who protect our public health and environment with this vital service.
Public Works Week also offers a great reminder of the important infrastructure work happening throughout American Canyon. Our Public Works team is actively managing several construction projects:
-
Melvin Road Sidewalk and Drainage Project: This project will improve curbs, gutters, sidewalks and existing storm drains to better manage stormwater flow. Temporary fencing is now installed at the field on Poco Way and Melvin Road to mark the material storage area.
-
Rancho Del Mar Improvements: Water main tie-ins began this week, with sewer work scheduled to begin the week of May 19. Traffic control and detours will be in place to ensure a safe and steady flow of traffic.
-
Knightsbridge Way Reconstruction: Flaggers will direct traffic on Elliot Drive and Danrose Drive during construction hours the week of May 19 due to lane closures. The parking stalls along Knightsbridge Way, next to the Recreation Center, will be closed during this time.
We appreciate your patience with construction noise and truck traffic during work hours. For the latest information on all active projects, visit our Construction Updates page.
Later this month, we pause for a different kind of recognition. We invite you to join us for a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 26, from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park. As a reminder, City offices and facilities will be closed on May 26 in observance of the holiday.
P.S. Don’t miss out on the free ParkFest/Art Extravaganza this Saturday, May 17 at Community Park II. Enjoy the open air concert from 1 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. and the Art Extravaganza art show at the Boys & Girls Club from 12-6 p.m.
Take care,
Jason B. Holley City Manager

This week I’d like to talk about upcoming housing developments and what it means for our community.
One exciting project on the horizon is the Crawford Way Multifamily Project, which will bring 100 townhome-style apartments at the southwest corner of Crawford Way and Hwy 29. The project includes 16 three-story buildings with a mix of 68 two-bedroom units, 32 three-bedroom units, two-car garages, a community building and a large common open space.
Projects like this are shaped by our community’s evolving needs. As we welcome new housing, we also support the long-term vitality of our local businesses and schools. More homes mean more customers for our neighborhood shops and restaurants, which keeps them open and thriving. It also supports and opens the door for additional retail options that serve the community’s everyday needs.
Housing growth also helps maintain our student population, which is essential to keeping our schools strong and open. We have seen neighboring communities face school closures due to declining enrollment. This is something we hope to avoid by supporting thoughtful, family-friendly development.
Together, we’re working to make American Canyon a place where everyone can live, work and play. Additional housing and the related impacts on our local economy and schools is an important part of that vision.
Together in service, Mayor Pierre Washington
