Happy New Year!
American Canyon is soaring to new heights in 2024. With a commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement, we've completed an operational assessment of our public works, maintenance and utilities, and parks and recreation functions. Yet our self-reflection is incomplete without you. We'll be launching the National Community Survey later this spring – this will be an opportunity to voice your opinion about our service. Your feedback is not just valuable; it's the compass guiding our path forward.

As you can see from this photo, a group of our treatment operators kicked off the year by seeking out the best available technology to treat high-strength industrial waste. This off-site tour offered a learning opportunity about innovative solutions that might be used to enhance economic development in American Canyon. Next Tuesday, the Council will begin to consider potential changes to utility rates necessary to continue investing in our utility infrastructure.
But that's just the beginning. Next month, we'll gather to share the annual “State of the City." Both digital streaming and in-person forums will provide a moment to celebrate our accomplishments and unveil exciting plans for the road ahead.

By mid-2024, you can expect a brand-new Virtual City Hall (i.e., website) to serve as your digital gateway to all things American Canyon.
Of course we anticipate another year of wonderful special events with local partners - from the July 4th Celebrations to Pride, Juneteenth, Memorial Day, Meet Me in the Street, National Night Out, Veterans Day, Magic of the Season and more — we look forward to fun with family and friends all-year-long.
In 2024, we invite you to join our collaboration with a shared commitment to keep American Canyon a great place to live, work and play!
Take Care,
Jason B. Holley
P.S. I would be remiss not to acknowledge recent happenings in our community. Learn more about yesterday’s high-profile vehicle pursuit here. Storm Safety Tips
It’s that time of year where potential flooding, sustained power outages, and downed trees can happen at any time. Poised to respond to outages are PG&E electric crews, troublemen, distribution line technicians and system inspectors who serve as the utility’s first responders, along with personnel who will monitor electric incidents for public safety.
Follow the tips below to be prepared and stay safe.
During heavy rain, localized flooding may occur. We encourage residents to proactively prepare. A self-serve sandbag station is located at City Hall (4381 Broadway, near the entrance by the tree & picnic table) and is available 24/7 during the winter season. Sand and sandbags are provided; users will need to bring their gloves and shovels.
PG&E prepares for storms and proactively works to reduce the risk of outages. Customers can view real-time outage information on its website outage center and also sign up for outage notifications.
Please remember to slow down, turn on your headlights, use your windshield wipers, and maintain a distance of several car lengths between your car and other vehicles.
If you see downed wires or a hazardous situation, call 911 immediately. All other problems, such as clogged storm drains and downed trees, may be reported by calling (707) 995-8674.

Sites Reservoir Project
In 2017 American Canyon became a partner in the Sites Reservoir Project, an environmentally beneficial, off-river reservoir that will capture excess water from major storms and save it for drier periods. This project will help all of California’s farms, businesses and cities by supplying water when other sources are low.
Once developed, there will be water dedicated specifically for the environment — ensuring fish, birds and other sensitive species and their habitats can withstand drier year conditions.
The Sites Reservoir Project is a product of collaboration and widely supported by local leaders, residents and the state and federal government. The 30 participating agencies represent millions of Californians and thousands of acres of food-producing farmland.
