Hello,
We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family! December is upon us, and everyone is in full swing with the holiday season. Unfortunately, during the holiday season, scrooges out there want to take advantage of others. Here are some holiday safety tips from ACPD.
Secure Your Home:
- Lock all doors and windows before leaving your home.
- Use timers for lights to give the appearance that someone is home.
-
Consider installing a security system if you don't already have one.
Travel Safely:
- If you're traveling, ensure your home looks lived in by stopping mail and newspaper deliveries or asking a neighbor to collect them.
-
Be cautious about what you share on social media regarding your travel plans.
Shopping Safety:
- Park in well-lit areas.
- Keep your purse or wallet secure, and be aware of your surroundings.
-
Avoid leaving shopping bags visible in your car; lock them in the trunk.
Be Wary of Scams:
- Be cautious of phone and email scams, especially during the holiday season.
- Verify the legitimacy of charitable organizations before making donations.
-
Make sure you only open the front door to people you know.
Avoid Drinking and Driving:
-
If you consume alcohol, do not drive. Arrange for a designated driver, use public transportation, or take a ride-sharing service.
We look forward to seeing everyone at our final Coffee with the COPS event in 2023. ACPD wishes everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 🎄
Respectfully,
Rick Greenberg Chief of Police

Did you know that registering your bicycle's serial number can be a game-changer in keeping it safe and secure? That's right! By taking just a few minutes to do this, you significantly increase the chances of recovering your bike in case it ever gets lost or stolen.
Why Should You Register? It helps the American Canyon Police Department identify and return your bike if it's found. Increases the chances of catching bike thieves and preventing future thefts. Provides evidence for insurance claims if needed.
How to Register:
1. Note down your bike's serial number. You can find it typically underneath the bike frame near the pedals or on the seat tube.
2. Access the online form HERE.
3. Fill out the form with accurate information, including the serial number and a brief description of your bike.
4. Hit submit, and you're all set!
Alternatively, you can also register your bicycle simply by dropping by the American Canyon Police Department at 911 Donaldson Way East, or calling (707) 551-0600.Let's all do our part in ensuring the safety of our beloved bicycles and encourage others to register theirs too!
