You won't want to miss American Canyon’s 4th of July Celebration. The community parade begins at 3 PM and will travel along Elliott Drive from American Canyon Road to Amarillo Drive. The festival will kick off at 4 PM at Community Park II (20 Benton Way) and include community booths, food vendors, free activities, and live music. At the June 6th City Council meeting, the American Canyon City Council passed a safe gun storage ordinance. This means it is illegal to not properly secure your firearms inside your residence with a gun lock or gun safe. American Canyon Police Department is offering free gunlocks so that you can comply with the ordinance and, most importantly, keep your firearms stored safely and securely. You can pick up your free gun lock at ACPD, 911 Donaldson Way East, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, or stop by their booth at the 4th of July festival.

Flush Smart Day is July 1st: Stop the Fatbergs
Have you heard of Fatbergs? These giant cement-like masses can form when fats, oils, and grease (FOGs) combine with non-flushable products like baby wipes, cleaning wipes, and makeup wipes and can clog the entire wastewater system. A 2020 NACWA report estimates that $441 million of utility fees are wasted annually on extracting these fatbergs from sewage lines and the resulting necessary repairs. The issue is complex, but our friends at the Responsible Flushing Alliance are promoting a simple solution! Just look for the “Do Not Flush” symbol on wipes packaging. This way, you’ll always know where your favorite personal care and hygiene products go. You can learn more about fatbergs and good flushing habits on their website at https://www.flushsmartcalifornia.org/.
