Hello,
Our National Community Survey will be closing this Sunday at 11:59 PM. Have you shared your opinions with us yet? Who better to tell us about your experience than YOU? The survey includes questions about quality of life, important characteristics of the city's community services, and priorities for the future. It's important to us that you participate so we can continue to improve living, working, and playing in American Canyon.
Did you know that California's 58 counties are under a drought emergency proclamation? January and February 2022 were the driest consecutive January and February dating back over 100 years in the Sierra Nevada. Nearly 30 days ago, the California Department of Water Resources Director Karla Nemeth said, "With only one month left in California's wet season and no major storms in the forecast, Californians should plan for the third year of drought conditions. A significantly below-average snowpack combined with already low reservoir levels makes it critical that all Californians step up and conserve water every day to help the state meet the challenges of severe drought."
To help put into perspective how fast the snowpack is melting, see the images below that show the Snow Water Equivalents (inches). In one week, we lost 11% of the average amount we historically see at this time of year. Our Source to Tap Water Video highlights why we need to be concerned about the snowpack. If you'd like to know more, visit California Water Watch, this site offers the most current local and statewide water conditions down to your region and even your neighborhood. This information is updated dynamically from a variety of data sources. Everyone is welcome to research, learn, and stay informed about California's most precious resource -- water.
We can help you save water through our online FREE tool - "My Water Portal." This intelligent tool has several capabilities, including daily, weekly, and monthly water tracking, comparison data, and the ability to set up alerts to notify you of high water consumption. American Canyon water customers who sign up for "My Water Portal" will be entered into a raffle for a $25 gift certificate to Mid-City Nursery or a one-time $25 credit on their water/sewer monthly bill. If you have already signed up on "My Water Portal," we will automatically enter you into the raffle. Raffle winners will be notified weekly via email to the email address linked to their portal account. Be sure to sign up today! š§
The drought will persist, but we will too. I know if each of our customers had an awareness of the water they are using, weād reach the next level of being water conscious here in Am Can. Please sign up for the Water Portal. You donāt know what you donāt know! Iāve heard numerous stories from current users who have found underground irrigation leaks, running toilets, and other hard to locate issues that waste thousands of gallons of water. The Portal data brought awareness, and now weāre saving that water. I would love to hear your successes too.
