Hello,
Last fall, a community member shared an idea to gather a group of volunteers to utilize the unused plots at the City’s Community Garden to grow food to be shared with those in need. I received an update this week that this project has launched and is already seeing incredible results.
Local businesses Crown Hill Stone Supply, Adobe Lumber, Mid City Nursery, and Recology Vallejo-American Canyon generously donated all the supplies for this project. Community members Nestor, Sean, Elena, Jaime, Paula, Rick, Fred, Marcos, and Tammy, have dedicated their time preparing, planting, and hand-watering the garden. Next, they will be installing drip irrigation. If you are interested in donating to this project in any way, please let me know, and I’ll get you connected to the group. This is a great demonstration of the spirit in our community. A HUGE thank you to each of you!
As we move into our post-pandemic “normal,” stories like this remind me how special American Canyon truly is. We always take care of each other, like the many hands tending to this garden. Updated guidance continues to flow from the public health agencies. Like all of you, we are combing through those updates to work on reopening our facilities and amenities. We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we develop and implement those plans. Of note and popular demand, we anticipate having the basketball hoops back in place within the next two weeks. For the most up-to-date information on COVID-19 vaccines, testing, guidance, and more visit the County of Napa's Public Health Department or covid19.ca.gov or the California Department of Public Health.
At the Council Meeting on Tuesday, May 4th, we will provide an update on the current situation for the City’s water supply in light of the major drought conditions throughout California. You’ll be hearing more from me in future updates about this topic. For now, it’s imperative that everyone understands how our water comes to us. Check out our Source to Tap Video here. We will all need to work together to be water smart and use every drop we have as wisely as possible.
Take care,
Jason Holley City Manager

Construction Updates
The James Road Rehabilitation Project is almost complete; the street is open! The Route 29 bus stops at the American Canyon Post Office will reopen on Monday, May 3rd. Our local officers joined in the celebration with autographed reminders of the 25 mph speed limit. We appreciate the community’s patience during this important project. There will be intermittent activity in the area in the next few weeks as the contract wraps things up, but no major delays or disruptions are expected from this work. Last week, DeSilva Gates, broke ground on the Devlin Road & Vine Trail Extension Project. Check out our Facebook Live sharing this exciting news. Road and sidewalk closures continue in the Wetlands Edge Trailhead area while the new Napa Junction Elementary School work progresses. Check out our construction updates page for details, and be prepared to have a little extra time while visiting this area of town.

Napa RCD has created a landing page of all things pet owners should know about properly disposing of their pet's waste... and why! This is a great resource for current pet owners, and all of you who are thinking about adopting a new furry family member. The site has tips on safe disposal, a portal to report a pet waste hotspot in your community, and a survey that will help us understand what our communities need to make sure they're disposing of pet waste properly. Please do your part to help keep Napa County's waterways free from pet waste pathogens!
