March 12, 2021
Hello,
Earlier this week, a team comprised of the American Canyon Fire Protection District, City of American Canyon, NorthBay HealthCare, American Canyon CERT, and Napa County Public Health vaccinated almost 275 members of our community. Thank you, to Holy Family Catholic Church for hosting the clinics, and to everyone involved in this venture. To sign up for your vaccine, please visit https://myturn.ca.gov/. We look forward to holding future events and providing more opportunities for ALL community members to be vaccinated as the opportunity arises.
You can learn the latest regarding COVID-19 and vaccine response from local, state, and federal leaders through a Virtual Town Hall scheduled for next week, on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at 6pm. Register here (not required) or see the flyer below for more information.
Another great achievement was highlighted this week by the Napa Valley Register, 18-year-old American Canyon resident Vanessa Chen is becoming the first female Eagle Scout in Napa County! Among the incredible work she has led, her public service project specifically benefitted our Newell Open Space Preserve. Her project planted trees and installed trail markers to replace those that were burned in the 2019 wildfire. Be sure to check out the story and learn about this remarkable young woman doing wonderful things in our community.
The rehabilitation of James Road continues to see progress. This project includes bulb-outs, which improve pedestrian crossings by reducing the pedestrian crossing distance, visually and physically narrowing the roadway, improving the ability of pedestrians and motorists to see each other, reducing the time that pedestrians are in the street, and allowing space for the installation of ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps. Read more about bulb-outs and the James Road project here.
Take care,
Jason Holley City Manager
