Hello!
I'm looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday evening at our State of the City Presentation, and General Plan Update Open House. The Boys & Girls Club will host this wonderful opportunity for all of us to connect. We'll open the doors at 6 PM. We will serve light appetizers and provide on-site free childcare. Our presentation will kick off at 6:30 PM, with a short City Council meeting where I will present "A Report to the Community," highlighting last year's accomplishments and our goals for the upcoming year. Following this presentation, the City Council meeting will adjourn, and our General Plan Team representatives will provide a short presentation about the process we kicked off in the new year. They will conduct an interactive exercise where you will be able to provide your valuable opinions to us. Event attendees will then be invited to network and visit informational stations to learn about community organizations and the General Plan Update. I hope you will all enjoy this opportunity to hear about where the next 20 years will take us.
Jason Holley City Manager

2020 Census: Your Response Matters Around this time next month (mid-March), you will begin receiving official Census Bureau mail with detailed information on how to respond to the 2020 Census online, by phone, or by mail.
American Canyon has grown a lot since 2010. A complete count of the families in our community is so important. Each year, Census data is used in decisions about how much funding is provided to various communities for more than 100 programs, including:
- Housing assistance
- Preparing for wildfires
- Providing school lunches
- Highway planning & construction
- Grants for public transportation systems
- Education programs like Head Start, Pell Grants, adult education, grants for preschool special education, and more!
This list is just a sample of the programs whose funding is determined by Census data that impact our community in one way or another. This year's count will define the next decade's worth of our representation in those decisions.
Did you know that business owners rely on census results to make decisions, such as where to open new stores, restaurants, and factories?
Since the Census only happens every ten years, and there are additional ways to participate, there can be confusion and misinformation floating around. You can find the facts and rumor clarifications by clicking here.
We'll keep updating you on the Census Count efforts. In the meantime, visit the 2020 Census website for more information.
