Notable Incident: Miscellaneous Fire (Recreational Vehicle), Incident # 20 - 81 On January 18th, 8:36 PM, Engine 11 was dispatched to a reported vehicle fire, possibly threatening a residential structure. Upon arrival, Engine 11 found a medium sized (Class C) RV parked in the driveway of the residence with smoke and flames showing. With the assistance of Brush 11 personnel, Engine 11 crew attacked the fire and quickly brought it under control. Automatic aid units from Vallejo and Napa County also responded. One automatic aid engine was assigned to cover the District and other responding units were not needed and cancelled. This incident is another good example of how a rapid fire department response helps to reduce property damage and reduce the number of resources needed to bring a fire under control. The RV unfortunately was a total loss but the residence remained undamaged and there were no injuries.

Annual Strategic Planning Meeting We held our annual Strategic Planning meeting on January 16, 2020. At the beginning of each year we invite all personnel to come together and meet with the goal of having an open discussion. Topics include a “good of the order/good of the organization” (also referred to as “Go-To”), current events, reviewing the past year, and planning for the future. We try to come away from the meeting with tangible action items to improve operations and communication. This year we also reviewed a new fire attack hose load which was proposed by “B Shift.” Additionally, Captain Kenny Diede was recognized for successfully completing his Fire Captain (promotion) probation period. Department personnel surprised him with by awarding him with a gift of a new helmet shield.
