Tonight! Transportation Commission to Discuss Lincoln/Walnut

This evening, January 28, the Transportation Commission will discuss proposed quick-build safety improvements to the Lincoln Ave/Walnut St intersection, which is identified as a high collision intersection in the Vision Zero Action Plan. The proposal would reduce the high number of broadside collisions occurring at this intersection by prohibiting through and left turn vehicular movements from Walnut Street, on a pilot basis. New Security Guard & Paid Parking at Seaplane Lagoon to Launch Feb 3

A parking lot completely full, with some illegal parking and another vehicle driving

Paid parking will help open up parking spaces for people driving to later ferries

On February 3, midweek paid parking will launch at the Seaplane Lagoon Ferry Terminal to help improve space availability on busy weekdays, when the lot frequently fills up early. Paid parking will be in effect on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at $3 per day. This location will operate as a pay-by-plate lot; please remember your license plate information when parking, similar to the Harbor Bay Ferry Terminal. Payment options include app, text, or pay station. Revenue generated will help support on-site operations, including new dedicated security services.

Download the ParkSmarter app so you can pay while waiting for your ferry or shortly after boarding!

Ferry riders are encouraged to explore alternative transportation to the terminals if they can, especially midweek. Options include traveling on Mondays and Fridays instead of midweek, biking, walking, carpooling, or getting dropped off. In 2025, 29% of Seaplane Lagoon ferry riders already reported biking or walking to the ferry. Bicyclists can store bikes in secure bike lockers at the ferry terminal or bring their bikes on board. In fall 2025, SF Bay Ferry added an additional morning trip to meet demand for on-board bicycle space.

Clement/Tilden Construction Underway

Construction on the Clement Avenue/Tilden Way Improvement Project is underway!

Find out the latest construction information

This project will improve safety for all street users and reduce vehicle delays on and off the island. It includes a roadway reconfiguration with a roundabout at Tilden Way/Blanding Avenue/Fernside Boulevard, safety improvements at the intersection of Tilden Way/Broadway, and an extension of Clement Avenue from Broadway to Tilden Way. The project will also improve pedestrian and bicycle facilities, improve bus stops, resurface the pavement, and create an open space dog park and other landscaping. The Clement/Tilden intersection is a High Injury Intersection, and roundabouts reduce fatal and severe injury crashes up to 78 percent compared to traffic signals.
