The City Council will hear a presentation, receive public comment and consider adopting the Climate Action and Resiliency Plan update and accepting the 2024 Annual Report on March 18th.
City Council meeting, March 18th, 7pm - Agenda and Staff Report
You're invited to a fun, informative and inspirational kayak outing and field trip to view the adaptation projects from the waters of the Estuary and San Leandro Bay. Hosted by the Oakland Alameda Adaptation Committee (OAAC) and Community Action for a Sustainable Alameda (CASA), and East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD).
This field trip is an opportunity to view the shoreline from a different perspective, closer to the inhabitants of the Bay, with real time exposure to the tidal effects on the shoreline habitats and a more intimate view of the challenges and opportunities along the land water interface. This field trip will provide an opportunity for information exchange, ideation about adaptation strategies and building connections. Please consider joining us on this fun event!

Does your house sit on a raised foundation, with a crawlspace underneath your first floor? The California Residential Mitigation Program Earthquake Brace + Bolt (EBB) grant program helps homeowners lessen the potential for damage to their houses during an earthquake by "bracing" the crawl space, when necessary, and "bolting" the foundation to the house's frame. This helps prevent the house from sliding or toppling off its foundation during an earthquake.
Earthquake Brace + Bolt (EBB) is now open through March 26, 2025. To register for up to a $3,000 seismic retrofit grant go to EarthquakeBraceBolt.com. Additional funds may be available for households with an annual household income of $89,040 or less.

RISING TIDES is a year-long climate arts initiative featuring extraordinary experiences to educate and inspire community action to positively impact climate change in Alameda and beyond. RISING TIDES explores the transformative power of public art to connect people and inspire action.
Building on the momentum of 2024’s successful launch, RISING TIDES returns with new exhibitions, impactful performances, thought-provoking artist talks, and hands-on activities designed to promote change. In May, the In Plain Site Photography Festival transforms the Alameda Point shoreline into an open-air gallery with stunning collections from both international and local photographers. The immersive Rising Seas program continues its season with live performances throughout the spring and summer, fusing global music, immersive dance, and site-responsive theater to enhance climate awareness.
